Take The E Train To The Spring 2012 District Conference

Would you like to network with hundreds of professionals with similar interests? How would you like to sharpen your communication skills in fantastic workshops held by former speech contest winners? Do you want to hear a World Champion of Public Speaking?

You can do all of the above and MORE at the 2012 District 4 Spring Conference. The theme of the conference is Energize, Educate, and Entertain. You’re in for a full 12-hour program from 8AM to 8PM. It’s packed with great workshops and unbelievable speakers. Saturday Conference Only
$100 – Conference + Reception Package (8:00AM-8:30PM)
Includes breakfast, luncheon, snack, and hors d’oeuvres

$80 – Conference Package (8:00AM-7:00PM). This includes breakfast, luncheon, and $80

Speak – The Screening

Are you ready to watch Speak? Speak is a widely acclaimed documentary film about the personal journeys of eight contestants as they aim for the World Champion of Public Speaking. Set against the backdrop of our #1 fear, the fear of public speaking, this film is funny, emotional, and gripping. Watch the struggle and triumph of human experience through of canvas of cinema.

For a limited time, you may win two tickets to a screening of Speak hosted by District 4. Simply bring a guest to the meeting, have him join our club, and send a copy of the new member’s application form with the sponsor portion on the back filled out with your name by email to lgm@d4tm.org. Each form you submit counts as one entry in the drawing, so the more guests you bring, the more chances you have to win! The winners and the location of the screening will be announced at a later date.

Peninsula Toastmasters Story Night #1

Do you realize that your entire life can be told in a series of short stories? Stories truly capture the essence of our human experience and our true character. To honor this powerful tool of emotional experience, our next Peninsula Toastmasters meeting will be our first ever Story Night ™!

Our program is straightforward: We will take turns on stage to tell a story we’ve heard or one from our own life. Please note that you will not be giving a regular Toastmasters “speech”. It should be a simple story that you might tell at a party or a family gathering. To keep the atmosphere relaxed, there will not be an evaluation for the storyteller! The only requirement is that you tell an interesting story and that you keep it between 3 – 7 minutes.

The Toastmaster will contact everyone individually to get the speaking order and the title of the story you will tell. Remember that while you are not required to tell a story, it is “Story Night” so you will be expected to speak. Guests are not required to share a story unless they wish to! Need some inspiration for your story? Visit the Moth Organization to check out some amazing (and true) stories told live!

To celebrate the beginning of what will undoubtedly be a grand tradition, we will start things off with a potluck party starting at 7:30PM. Feel fee to bring food to share if you’d like! You may sign up on the front page of the website.
