Manage Like The Benevolent Dictator

Michael Feuer  is the CEO of Max-Ventures, a venture capital and retail consulting firm and a co-founder of OfficeMax, a national chain of office supplies stores. He is also author of The Benevolent Dictator: Empower Your Employees, Build Your Business, and Outwit the Competition.

Through his experiences in heading up both companies, Feuer is convinced that a leader’s management style should be comparable to a “benevolent dictator”.

The “dictator” side makes the difficult decisions when the time for talking is done, but the “benevolent” side does so by putting the interests of the organization ahead of the leader’s personal interests. And part of being a benevolent dictator is requiring clear, concise communication.
